Monica’s Summer Schedule!

Hello Drummers and Rhythm Enthusiasts!
Here are your summer opportunities to DRUM SOME MORE! Woo hoo!

MONICA’S SUMMER SCHEDULE

Courtenay Recreation, register by calling 250 338 5371
Lewis Centre Gym, indoors
Fridays, July 9th to August 20th
Drums Alive:  10:15 – 11:15 am
Intermediate Drumming: 12 noon – 1:00 pm
Beginner Drumming: 2:00 – 3:00 pm
NB If you already signed up and were on a “wait list”, you have now been moved to the full class – health restrictions have eased so we will all be drumming together again!

ROYSTON! Yes! ROYSTON!
I have booked the Royston Hall for Thursday afternoon/evenings from July 1st – August 26th (9 classes)! Now I need to gauge how many of you are interested in coming back. As the hall is a smaller venue, I am being mindful of numbers and will need pre-registration commitments.

DUNS:  for all levels, practicing the rhythms we will be doing in the drumming class  – this means absolute beginners will probably not be comfortable in this class; beginner dun players should be prepared to be challenged, more advanced players should be prepared to be helping, reviewing and working on breaks that are more complicated while beginners hold down the “pulse”
4:15 – 5:00 pm

DJEMBE (+ duns of course!): this will be an intermediate class, following approx the same rhythms we will be doing through Courtenay Rec; therefore, this class is for those who want extra drumming practice in a week and/or for those who can’t make it to the daytime Courtenay Rec class
5:15 – 6:15 pm

***** Please let me know if you would like to pre-register for Royston Classes. *****

*****At this time, I cannot commit to Errington classes (simply too far to travel at this point; will revisit in fall) SO hoping my drumming friends from “down south” will consider carpooling and making the trip to my neck of the woods for this session 🙂  Some Errington students are already signed up for Courtenay classes this summer!******

***** Fall programming for both Courtenay Recreation AND Royston are going ahead. Courtenay classes will be moving to the Native Sons Hall (except for beginners, venue TBA). Royston classes will go back to the “normal” schedule of beginner & advanced duns and intermediate djembe, with the possibility of ensemble – except on Thursdays as far as I know.

ISLAND DRUM CAMP 2021 is coming in July. Jordan from Drum Victoria is bringing rhythms for balafon, djembe and duns (+ more) to Courtenay JULY 23 -25, outdoors in Lewis Park. Students of mine can receive an EXTRA 15% off the already offered “early bird” pricing only up till midnight June 30th. Have a look, register quickly as space is limited and contact me with questions! (If you have seen Jordan’s email and have registered already, please contact Jordan directly to find out what he has for you in lieu of the 15% discount which only works at the time of registration…apologies 🙁
